Design & Marketing intern, Oppy

The Design intern will support the Marketing and Communication Department by assisting with graphic design and development services for a variety of company packaging, branding and promotional materials and web services ensuring alignment with corporate strategy. They will also create social content that supports marketing programs. Contributes to a cohesive team-oriented environment to produce optimal results within tight time frames.
The ideal intern would have
- Solid knowledge and foundation in graphic design principles including layout, typography, and photo editing
- Basic knowledge of web and video design principles and practices
- Strong photography skills with the ability to light and photograph product and edit images in a timely manner
- Proficient with Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and all MS Office programs
- Superior oral and written communication skills
- Resourceful and creative in developing content with limited assets
- Experienced with social media publishing and analysis tools
- Ability to build and maintain effective internal and external working relationships. Desire to exceed customer expectations
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills with an attention to detail
- Strong time management and project management skills with the ability to set priorities, meet deadlines, multi-task, and work under pressure
- Ability to exercise mature judgement and take initiative
- Knowledge of CSS and Drupal programs an asset
WORK WILL INCLUDE:
- Provides support in the development and implementation of company marketing strategies, advertising and promotion programs and services.
- Provides graphic design and development services for a variety of company packaging, mock-ups, point of sale material, sell-sheets and branding and promotional materials while ensuring that both company and Grower’s brands are represented accurately and consistently.
- Develops innovative and creative solutions for print and web design projects and video; takes initiative to generate concepts and suggest improvements to elevate branding and promotional materials.
- Produces and edits photo images to be used in marketing materials and ensures that images meet the requirements of the project.
- Liaises with internal and external contacts including staff, customers, advertising agencies, printers and media to gather or disseminate information.
- Continually monitors competitor materials and market positions, particularly in the areas of innovative packaging and graphics in the international food industry. Makes recommendations to capitalize on opportunities as appropriate.
- Coordinates and/or participates in various marketing projects, including trade and/or web consumer advertising, promotions, video collateral, special events and market research activities as required.
- Works cohesively as a team member to produce best possible product on time. Takes initiative to move projects forward and expedite them in an efficient manner.
- Work with marketing and communications team to refine and implement comprehensive content and social media strategies that ladder up to larger brand story and mission
- Assist marketing team on special projects and brand requests
SUITED TO CANDIDATES GRADUATING WITH:
- Bachelor of Business majoring in Marketing
- Bachelor of Design majoring in Communication Design
- Bachelor of Communications majoring in Advertising Creativity
PREFERRED DATES:
12 weeks, starting January 2018.
