Design intern, Allbirds
Allbirds, a new San Francisco based start-up, was launched in March 2016 by Tim Brown, a former professional soccer player, and Joey Zwillinger, a biotech engineer. At Allbirds they’re on a mission to prove comfort, good design and sustainability don’t have to be mutually exclusive. They are dedicated to making the most sustainable footwear possible using premium natural materials, designed for the to and fro of everyday life. Their commitment to making better shoes in a better way is fueled by a belief that the shoe industry needs to focus less on flash and more on thoughtfulness. With funding from both the leading venture capitalists in consumer products and the founding CEO’s of some of the greatest e-commerce businesses in recent history, their desire to shake up the shoe industry is off to a great start. In fact, TIME already called their first shoe, the Wool Runners, the most comfortable in the world, and there is much more to come.
With the business growing quickly, Allbirds is seeking a product or textile design intern to work closely with Head of Design Jamie McLellan and the product development team. Allbirds is looking for someone with specialization in knitting techniques and/or sustainable textiles.
